Following false reports that soldiers were forcefully immunizing school pupils in Anambra state, the state health commissioner visited Ozubulu, the town where the Nigerian Army were conducting a free medical outreach.
The Health commissioner, Dr Joe Akabuike on inspecting the centre confirmed that the outreach is part of the Nigerian Army social welfare engagement aimed at providing free medical services to citizens in the state.
The commisioner called for calm and assured the people that there is no need to panic that the Nigerian Army meant well.
The Army Commander in-charge of the outreach, Brig. General Ugwuoke said that the exercise was part of the Egwu Eke II operation being undergone in the south-east by the Nigerian Army.
Operation Egwu Eke II is not just about flushing out criminal elements in the south-east region, but also involves social welfare activities such as this free medical outreach, Ugwuoke said.
