2015: Support Buhari, PDP Youths Tell Jonathan

by on October 16, 2014

The PDP Youth Vanguard, a youth mobilization group under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to support General Muhammad Buhari in obtaining his nomination form to run for President under the All Progressives Congress (APC).

This is coming on the heels of General Buhari’s lamentation regarding the high cost of obtaining his nomination form under the platform of the APC.

According to a report by PREMIUM TIMES on Thursday, Mr. Buhari, who is running for the fourth time, shortly after picking the forms at the National Secretariat of the APC in Abuja, said the N27.5million levy for the forms were exorbitant and that he was helpless in getting it reduced.

“I felt heavily sorry for myself because I don’t want to go and ask somebody to pay for my nomination forms, because I always try to pay myself, at least for the nomination.

“N27 million is a big sum, thankfully I have personal relationship with the manager of my bank in Kaduna and I told him that very soon the forms are coming, so, whether I am on red, or green or even black please honour it otherwise I may lose the nomination”, General Buhari lamented.

Speaking to BREAKING TIMES on Thursday, National Coordinator of the PDP Youth Vanguard, Hon. Beke Apere called on President Goodluck Jonathan to support Buhari in defraying the cost of his nomination form.

According to Hon. Apere, “We are calling on President Jonathan to support Buhari with a token. We know Buhari is out to fail again and he cannot win the Presidential election in 2015. Rather than support President Jonathan’s transformation roadmap, he has remained adamant in his ambition to rule Nigeria at all cost.

“It is clear that General Buhari is unserious, old and tired. He no longer belongs to our generation. I wonder why a man complaining about the cost of his party’s nomination form is seeking to govern a country of over 160 million people. If he is already complaining about the means to run his presidential campaign, how can he shoulder the task of running Nigeria? Maybe Buhari needs to learn from how Obama raised funds from American citizens who funded his campaign. Obama never complained about the challenges of fund raising. Nigeria does not need an old, nagging President.

“If really Buhari is as popular as he claims, why are his supporters not coming to his aid? Why is he crying over nomination form?”
