Operatives of Anti-Kidnapping Unit of Rivers State Police Command on Saturday evening, killed three notorious kidnappers suspected to be terrorizing Port Harcourt, capital city of the state.
The kidnappers are said to have been responsible for series of kidnapping incidents around the Choba/Ada George and Obiri Ikwerre axis of Port Harcourt.
Confirming the incident the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Nnamdi Omoni, said in tip of information, the police stormed a criminal hideout in Choba, where some hoodlums opened fire but police over powered them killing three while one escaped.
According to the PPRO “Operatives of the Anti – kidnapping unit, led by the Commander SP Edward Shadare at about 430pm, following a tip off, call analysis of the kidnappers phone, demanding for ransom, the team tracked and traced them to their hideout at Choba, where on sighting the Police the hoodlums opened fire and were repelled at the end of which three of them were fatally wounded while two of our men sustained gunshot wounds.”
He disclosed that during the shoot out, three kidnapped victims one Timi Endure, Nasi Fatim and Eze Wilson, a staff of NTA Port Harcourt who was kidnapped on the 20th of January, 2017 were all rescued unhurt .
Items recovered from the hoodlums include; Two pump Action Riffles, 20 Rounds live Cartridges
However, Omoni further stated that one of the kidnappers escaped, adding that efforts are on to track the fleeing hoodlum
