Abia North Senatorial Rerun| Kalu Gets Backing of Njiko Ndi Igbo Worldwide

by on February 27, 2016

The Progressives Peoples Alliance (PPA) candidate in the March 5 Abia North senatorial election rerun, Orji Uzor Kalu, yesterday received the backing of a socio-cultural group, Njiko Ndi Igbo Worldwide, which endorsed his candidacy for the election.

The President of the group, Dr Sam Onwudiwe and the spokesperson, Hon. Dr Joe Nzepuome, who made the disclosure to journalists in Abuja, said their endorsement of the former governor of Abia State was taken after wide consultations with members at home and in the diaspora.

The group added that it was based on the need for the senatorial zone and Ndigbo in general to have quality representation at the Senate that they resolved to mobilize support for the former governor, adding that his presence at the Senate would protect the interest of the South-East and the ignored nation.

He argued that the ex-governor has all the capabilities to provide quality leadership to deliver democratic dividends to the people, adding that the socio-economic condition in the area requires somebody with good pedigree and the good of the people at heart to be elected, irrespective of political affiliations.

The group also commended Ohanaeze Ndigbo for also endorsing the former governor and urged the people to rally round him during the election, just as they urged the INEC to ensure a free, fair and credible election, calling on the people of the zone to protect their votes.

“Having followed the track record of Dr Orji Kalu, we have no iota of doubt that he is the right man for the position. He left an indelible mark as the governor of the state, established and control business empires that have touched the lives of many indigenes and Nigerians,” the group noted.
