The ministry of tourism and culture, Imo state government in collaboration with the hoteliers association of Nigeria, Imo state branch organized a one day seminar on security and innovation in the hospitality industry.
The event which held at the famous Concorde Hotel, Owerri was graced by various participants spanning from all local government of the state who contributed meaningfully at every session of the seminar. Young minds were also on ground tipping for a rigorous and direction driven industry.
Representing the state government, Hon. Commissioner for tourism, creative arts and culture, Barr. Chijoke Nzekwe who anchored on the ease of doing business and that the Rebuild Imo project is centered on enabling a working environment business owners where many can well appreciate the effort of this administration as led by the proactive administrator, His Excellency, Gov. Emeka Ihedioha to revamp the economy of the state.
The security personnel present, did highlight the various roles hotelier has to play to secure guest at their premises. Most notable was the DCP Kene Onwuemelie, who made for a tutor after he delivered a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) based case for the responsibilities of actors in that sector, also handy was the Chairman of the association, Chima Chukwunyere who delivered a resounding and focus driven opening speech that set the ball rolling.
There was a moment of lecturing or what the compere reffered to as motivational speaking jarring many off their seat to acknowledge an experienced based disposition and most importantly reminded the hotel owners and manager to pay more attention to basic customer satisfaction as top priority.
Also present at the event, the Special Adviser on Sanitation and General Manager ENTRACO, Hon. Alex Emeziem who emphasized on the commitment of the government to restore Imo state as cleanest in the country. He took the opportunity to introduce the planned enrollment of operators that would be handling the collection and disposition of waste to designated government dump site. He indicated that going forward waste collection in that state will come with a considerable fee to enable government further perform her functions.
The event was an interactive session where sizeable amount of the participants at the seminar taking turns to ask the speakers questions related to solving problems of this sector.
Reactions coming from invites adjudged to the success of the event and many prayed for a more collaborative hospitality industry in Imo state.
