Boko Haram terrorists have bombed two towers along the Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV transmission line.
This incident is barely 48 hours after the Transmission Company of Nigeria, TCN, restored power to Maiduguri and its environs.
Mrs Ndidi Mbah, the spokesperson of the TCN confirmed that two other towers; T152 and T153 along the same line route of the other incident were vandalised.
“TCN would continue to do all that it can to ensure power supply is restored to the affected areas,” she assured.
Since militants of the Islamic State in the West African Province blew up a power grid on Janurary 26, residents of the Borno State capital have been plunged into darkness.
Even water has become scarce in the city. Many households have shut down their boreholes which supply them and their neighbours due to the high cost of diesel to power them, several residents said.
Long queues have appeared at the few boreholes supplying water, as residents line up with pails and jerry cans.
