The governorship candidate of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Jimi Agbaje, has stated that the victory of PDP in the 2015 general elections will ensure freedom for the Nigerian people.
Agbaje made the statement on Thursday during the PDP Women rally at the National Stadium Surulere, Lagos.
“This election is about freedom from the people who think Lagos is for them and still want to extend the same control to the federal level but will be resisted,” he said.
Agbaje further stated that PDP government led by President Goodluck Jonathan at the centre has done a lot for the women in addition to the transformation agenda.
“In the past four years you have seen the transformations that has taken place in every sector of the economy.”
He urged women to reciprocate the good gesture of President Jonathan by voting overwhelmingly his re-election on March 28. Agbaje promised that a PDP government in Lagos will correct the ill of the present government in the state.
“I can assure you that if you vote for us, most of the things you are complaining now will be corrected by PDP government,” he said.
On the same issue, the National Women Leader of PDP, Kema Chikwe, urged the people of Lagos and the South West return President Jonathan to office by voting for him during the presidential election. “President Jonathan deserves our votes because he has done more than the affirmative action on women,” she said.
According to Chikwe, “the present government this week appointed a woman as minister for information in addition to other sensitive positions like minister of finance occupied by a woman in the country.” She expressed confidence that the ruling party will the next elections convincingly because there is no alternative party to PDP.
“I don’t think there is any party that can beat PDP in the coming elections”. Chikwe further stated that with the support of Nigerian women who has agreed to vote for PDP, the 2015 general elections will be a sure victory for the party.
