The National Auditor of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief George Moghalu has described the fracas that broke out during stakeholders meeting of the party in Awka, Anambra state as embarrassing.
Chief Moghalu who was speaking with journalists in his Uraugu-Nnewi residence on Monday, May 8, 2018, said that he feels thoroughly embarrassed with the development which he pointed out was not in line with APC’s way of doing things.
“I expected decorum to prevail during the stakeholders meeting which was billed for Finotel Awka, the meeting was actually called by the congress committee that came from Imo state to smoothen some rough edges and as the committee members were being introduced, there was an issue over the identity of one of them.
“There may be issues but APC is known for doing things decently and things shouldn’t have degenerated to the abysmal level that I had to run for my dear life but then that is life, APC is made up of human beings and even at family level misunderstanding can occur.” He reasoned
The National Auditor of APC however said that he expects the committee to do their homework, meet with selected stakeholders and come up with a template to conduct a free, fair and transparent primary in Anambra state.
Chief Moghalu also debunked the claims in some quarters that the party’s primary was conducted in certain local government areas of Anambra state, noting that there is no way that would have been possible when the committee members actually reported in the state on Sunday.
