APC plans Grand reception for Nnamani, Kalu, Ifeanyi Ubah, Others

by on February 15, 2017
With more influential Igbo joining the All Progressives Congress (APC), the South East zone has initiated arrangements to hold a grand reception for them.
The party, which praised the Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Industries Limited and the Publisher of The AUTHORITY Newspapers, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, for joining the APC, charged those still on the edge to follow his example.
The party also hailed other prominent Igbo politicians for using the opportunity of the ongoing registration and revalidation exercise of the party membership in the South East zone to join the APC.
Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah wants to use the APC platform to contest the Anambra State governorship election holding later in the year.
In view of the mass exodus to the APC, the zonal leaders appealed to the national secretariat of the party to extend the registration exercise to accommodate more members.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday by the APC National Vice Chairman (South East), Hon. Emma Eneukwu and the Zonal Publicity Secretary, Hon. Hyacinth Ngwu, the party said that even though the exercise has yielded results, lack of registration materials is inhibiting its overall success.
Eneukwu said: “The ongoing continuous registration exercise in APC South East zone which has recorded a huge turnout is on-track and peaceful. The party has exceeded its projected membership in the zone, and therefore is requesting from the national leadership for the provision of more materials and extension of the time allotted for the exercise”.
“The APC South East welcomes all the prominent Igbo politicians who had recently joined the party with their over 600,000 supporters in the zone, particularly Senator Ken Nnamani (former Senate President), Chief Orji Uzor Kalu, Senator Andy Uba, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, Hon. Eugene Odo (former Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly), Chief Sam Onyishi (former PDP governorship aspirant, Enugu State), amongst others.
The party advised other prominent politicians from the zone who are still on the edge to crossover to the party as “the Igbo are naturally progressives.”
Eneukwu said that the APC has set up a committee to organise a grand reception for Nnamani, Dr Ifeanyi Ubah, Kalu, Onyishi and others.
He stated the commitment of the party to winning the 2017 Anambra State governorship election and going ahead to capture Abia, Ebonyi and Enugu states in the 2019 general elections.
