As Supreme Court Set To Decide On Nyesom Wike’s Tribunal Judgement Appeal

by on January 27, 2016

The Supreme Court will commence hearing today on the appeal brought by Rivers state Governor Nyesom Wike challenging the judgment of the Court of Appeal, which upheld the nullification of his election by an Election Petition Tribunal.

Governor Nyesom Wike had filed twenty grounds of appeal to the Supreme Court stating that the election tribunal relied on hearsay and other inadmissible evidence to arrive at its judgment.

Governor Nyesom Wike cited the case between Agbaje versus Ambode, which held that the use or non-use of card reader cannot be a ground for questioning or nullifying an election.
