A police sergeant, Abubakar Musa, has drowned when he and three others were stormed by bees in a canoe, leaving it to capsize.

The incident happened at Gbachinku village, Lapai, Niger State.

According to police source, they were on their way from a case of mischief that was reported to them which cost him his life while the other three officers nearly died too.

“The spirit among those officers was very good – you could trust them to go anywhere and do anything in line of their duty.

“In those conditions, those officers must have been absolutely remarkable, there is no other word for it. It must be frightening, absolutely frightening,” he said.
