Experts says Nigeria is ranked high as a suicide-prone country,mental health awareness is slowly becoming a mainstay of contemporary media, historically, Nigerians saw depression as ‘White man sickness” and believed their beer could cure everything.
One way in creating this mental awareness is through inspiration music,like the single “Hello.”
the Artist of the song,Rhema Habib told thebreakingtimes.com that the essence of the song was to fight depression which is the root cause of suicide.
“Hello how are you? Is a song born out of a season of Total dryness,it was like my world was in total darkness,my days became night.I continued to back away from people,my thought kept weighing me down and in all this time I pretended that all was well.I was all alone depressed and contemplating the next dangerous move.All I needed was that word of encouragement which was not there,I had to positively worked myself out.This gave me the inspiration to write the song.”She said.
The Microbiology graduate from the university of Abuja,says she will continue to use her song to fight depression.
The song was officially lunched on June 1.
