The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) yesterday in Abuja said Nigeria would not legalise cannabis, despite surging calls for its legalization in the country.
NDLEA director general Mrs Roli Bode-George stated this when she led her management team on a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE).
Bode-George lamented that the intake of cannabis and other drugs has destroyed the lives of many promising youths, stressing that those calling for its legalization are ignorant of its consequences.
While stating that it poses serious societal problems despite contrary claims by those calling for its legalization, she said that the NDLEA had 36 rehabilitation centres in Nigeria which counseled 2, 750 drug users in 2014.
