by on October 27, 2015

Power generated at the Egbin Power Plant in Lagos State has dropped from 813 megawatts to 660 megawatts, an official said on Tuesday.

The plant, the nation’s biggest power generating outfit, has the capacity to contribute about 1,000 megawatts to the national grid.

An authoritative source at the plant said the drop was as a result of the ongoing maintenance of Egbin lines by the Nigerian Gas Company.

The source said the plant was advised by NGC to step down its generation due to the ongoing repairs at its lines.

“Egbin Power Plant, the nation’s biggest power generating outfit, has the capacity to wheel out 1,000 megawatts to the national grid.

“The ongoing maintenance at the NGC lines had stalled wheeling out of 1,000 megawatts generation to the national grid,’’ the source said.

According to the source, the development may also affect the general power generation output on the stations which receive gas from NGC.

Contacted for comments, Seun Olagunju, the Director, Public Affairs, Transmission Company of Nigeria, said the national power generation output now stood at 4, 274 megawatts.

“As at this morning, the national power generation output now stands at 4, 274 megawatts.’’

The country’s power generation as at October 16 jumped from 3,657 megawatts to 4,600.

You set up this online newspaper simply to sabotage Nigeria. Shame on you. Screaming headlines of destruction. The God of heaven who has kept Nigeria safe and united will continue to abide with Nigeria and for us. Amen. God will not allow all your dark thoughts to bring down Nigeria. Amen
