Boko Haram Kills 29 in Bomb Blasts

by on July 23, 2015

Bomb blasts at two busy bus stations in eastern Nigeria have killed almost 30 people and left more than 100 others injured.

Nigerian National Emergency Management Agency spokesman Sani Datti said at least 29 people died in the explosions in Gombe. The agency called for urgent blood donations to treat the injured.

The latest in a series of deadly attacks by Islamic extremists comes as the West African nation’s new president warned that the US refusal to sell strategic weapons is hampering Nigeria’s fight against Boko Haram.

President Muhammadu Buhari, while in Washington this week, urged the US president and Congress to be more flexible about a law prohibiting weapons sales to countries whose soldiers are accused of gross human rights violations.
