A British woman has been named as one of two people shot dead at a holiday resort in Nigeria.
Aid worker Fay Mooney was travelling to Kaduna from Lagos with a group of 12 people when armed kidnappers raided the resort, ‘shooting sporadically’. In addition to killing Ms Mooney and a Nigerian man, they kidnapped three others.
The 29-year-old worked as a communications specialist for aid group Mercy Corps and had worked in Nigeria for two years.
Her family told the Guardian she had been on holiday with boyfriend Matthew Oguche.
The identities of those abducted have not yet been disclosed.
There has been a spate of kidnappings in the region in recent months.
A state police spokesman said: “Some suspected kidnappers armed with dangerous weapons gained entry into a recreational resort called Kajuru Castle in Kajuru local government area shooting sporadically and in the process shot dead two persons, including an expatriate lady, and took away three others.”
