Buhari Appoints Musiliu Smith As Chairman Of Police Service Commission

Former Inspector-General of Police Musiliu Smith has been appointed as the chairman of the Police Service Commission by President Muhammadu Buhari.

Smith will take over from Mike Okiro, who is also a former IG of Police, Punch reports.

Five other individuals were also appointed by the president, as members of the PSC.

Musiliu Smith appointed as new Police Service Commission chairman

The president’s letter, seeking legislative confirmation of the appointments, was read by Senate President Bukola Saraki.

Investigations revealed that Suleiman Abba, former inspector general of police, and Israel Ajao, retired deputy inspector general of police, were shortlisted for the position of chairman, Police Service Commission (PSC).

Sir Mike Okiro’s tenure as chairman of PSC would statutorily expire on June 12, 2018.
