Confed Cup: FC Ifeanyi Ubah aim to pick maximum points

The ultra-modern Ifeanyi Ubah International stadium, Nnewi, will host its first international match when FC Ifeanyi Ubah and visiting Al-Masry of Egypt clash in the first leg of the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup.

This will be The Anambra Warrior first-ever competitive international match after they won the Nigeria Federation Cup last year.

Though they are new in continental competition, FC Ifeanyi Ubah has proven to be a team with character, determined to achieve results whenever the stake is high.

Al-Masry have come with a game plan to shock  the Anambra Warriors at ‘The Fortress’, but may get more they bargained for as the Warriors say they are ready to give all to achieve victory on  their first international match at home.

FC Ifeanyi Ubah defender, Kojo Baah said that the Anambra warriors are poised to make it a sweet start in their continental campaign,

“It is going to be our first continental game as a club and we are determined to make the best of it,” he said.

Baah disclosed that the players are in very high spirit for the visit of the North African giants.

“We are in very high spirit. The motivation is there and all we need is for the fans to stand behind us.

“We know the importance of this game. We know we have to work hard to win; and with good margin for that matter to make the return leg in Cairo, Egypt less difficult and we are determined to do that”.

The kickoff time is 3.30( Nigerian time) and the Anambra State Football Association , which incidentally is headed by the President of FC Ifeanyi Ubah, Dr. Patrick Ubah  has guaranteed tight security for fans and the visting team.

The return leg match will be played at the 18, 000-capacity Port Said Stadium, situated on the bank of the Red Sea, Cairo, Egypt, next weekend.
