Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS), Good Shepherd House, Alausa, Ikeja, is on fire according to reports in the media.
According to Vanguard, the third floor which houses office of the Director of Administration, is the particular apartment which is being affected by the fire.
There are speculations that this fire is an attempt by loyalists to Babatunde Fowler, who was nominated by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to serve in President Muhammadu Buhari’s government, to cover up his tracks after several questionable business dealings with companies linked to Tinubu.
Under Fowler’s administration at the LIRS, reports state that Lagos State’s internally generated revenue went up from about N3.6 billion a month in 2006, to about N20.5 billion per month. However, between 10 to 15 per cent of the proceeds were channeled to Alpha Beta Consulting, a company that is owned by Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
As at the time of filing this report, it was gathered that men of the Lagos State Fire Service which is not far from the tax office, responded promptly to the call by the body.
The fire was said to have been put out about 30 minutes after it started, although it is yet to be ascertained how much damage the inferno caused.
