#COVID19: Commercial Motorcyclists Banned In Bwari, Surrounding Metropolis areas


Bwari Area Council, Federal Capital Territory Abuja has today banned all commercial motorcycles in metropolis areas within the Council’s boundaries. This was cited in a memo signed by the council chairman, Honourable Peter Eli.

The order was issued as part of measures to curb the spread of Covid-19, even as workers from other parts of the Federation return to Abuja for work purposes, due to the lockdown lift.

The Metropolis areas listed are:

1.  Ushafa
2. Dutse Makaranta to Dutse Alhaji
3. Kubwa
4. Byazhin
5. Dei Dei
6. Dawaki
7. Mpape

The Okada Riders Association (Motorcyclists) and members of the public were warned to adhere strictly, as authorization has been issued for the arrest, prosecution and punishment of offenders.

It can be recalled that the FCT Minister Mohammed Bello, had on Saturday urged non residents who work in the FCT to stay away. The motorcycle ban issued further discourages entry, as transportation will be heavily limited.
