by on June 5, 2020

The Nassarawa State Chairman, Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr. Bulus Peter Umaru, has revealed that three medical doctors  are currently positive for the Coronavirus.

NMA chairman Bulus said, “Three medical doctors in Nasarawa State have contracted the coronavirus disease in the course of their work of dealing with patients.”

This is coming as Nassarawa recorded two known cases of Covid19 according to the last NCDC Update, bringing the total amount of cases in the state to five.

Bulus further revealed that the infected doctors were on admission at the Federal Medical Center (FMC) isolation centre, and are responding to treatment.

Dr Bulus said that the NMA had emphasized the importance of caution, requesting its members and other medical personnel to observe personal and environmental hygiene— including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to guard against contracting the disease.

He further called on Nasarawa State government to speed up consent for the implementation of hazard allowances to health workers.
