Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in the April, 2015 gubernatorial election in Delta state, Chief Great Ovedje Ogboru has confirmed the merger of the APC and Labour party to unseat the Peoples Democratic Party PDP in the next elections.
Ogboru said both political parties had agreed on a number of issues and very shortly, the merger into the APC shall be announced formally to have a strong APC in the state.
He spoke yesterday, in Ughelli, Delta state, and revealed both parties had formed a steering committee headed by party stalwarts from the two parties to lead the union and ensure things work out well as envisioned in the emergence of a formidable political party in the best interest of Deltans.
Ogboru disclosed that Sir Richard Odibo, a foremost grassroot political heavyweight has been appointed to lead the Labour Party into the union while Barr Alfred Oloko is leader of the APC merger talks.
“With this development, the process of collapsing the Labour Party into the APC for a brand new executive for the party in Delta state was almost completed. A list of interim state executive of the united APC was already in place to be announced soon. With this development, Labour Party would be formally fused into APC ahead of the forth-coming congress of the party in the state”, he added.
