The Catholic Youth Assembly, CYA, has berated the campaign organisation of the Kogi State All Progressives Congress, APC, gubernatorial candidate, Audu Abubakar, for dragging the name of Rev Father Ejike Mbaka in the mud for political gains.

Audu campaign organisation had earlier circulated a press statement on social media claiming that Mbaka described the governor of the state, Idris Wada, as a notorious man who is sinking the state.

The representative of CYA while speaking with newsmen expressed complete disappointment that the name of a respected man of God can be dragged into such dirty political publication.

“I will like to make it clear that Rev Mbaka is a man of repute and a figure respected by all. As much as he want the country to get better, he will never make such a statement about the Kogi state governor”, he said.

“The Catholic family and the Muslims in Kogi State have a mutual friendship and statements like this is the hand work of people who want to destroy that peaceful relationship. Rev Mbaka did not dedicate any service whatsoever to Audu Abubakar.

“It is appropriate that every candidate campaign, but telling lies with the name of a man of God is not a proper way to do that. It shows such campaign is based on lies and citizens can equally expect a government of lies if such candidate is elected”, the CYA representative said.
