The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has said his ambition is not worth the blood of anyone, reminiscent of the amiable politics of the world acclaimed hero of Nigeria’s Democracy, Dr. Ebele Goodluck Jonathan.
One wonders, why Godwin Obaseki did not go the way of President Muhammadu Buhari who said that “The dogs and baboons will bath in blood, if the election is rigged”
“We were ready for the election, but when the police belatedly raised the issue of security, there was nothing we could do.
“I will rather not be a governor than to have the blood of many people shed by miscreants that were imported into Edo State to cause havoc.
“The APC will win the election convincingly any day or time. The postponement was just a mere shift of the doomsday for the People’s Democratic Party and others,” Obaseki said.
“The people of Edo State have made up their mind never to go back to the dark era.
“They know me, they know the lineage of my family, they can trace me from four, five generations back; they know I don’t have a violent past; I have never been charged or tried for violent behavior.”
Meanwhile, the likely winner of the 2016 Edo polls, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has voiced his displeasure over the postponement of the election, saying the election has been compromised.
