Edo Women Should Forgive Aisha Buhari, She’s a Victim of Rape

by on March 23, 2015

Concerned Nigerian gender activists have called on the women of Edo State to forgive the unguarded comments recently credited to Mrs. Aisha Buhari, wife of the APC Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari.

Mrs. Buhari had in a campaign rally for her husband’s presidential bid in Edo State over the weekend described the women of Edo State, as “prostitutes” claiming her husband’s administration will stop the prostitution by Edo women abroad.

In a swift response to Mrs. Buhari on Monday in Benin, Sarah Obozuwa, Founder of the Edo Women for Change (EWC) called on Edo women to forgive Mrs. Buhari. “Aisha Buhari was born on September 29, 1979. As of today, Mrs. Buhari is only 35 years of age. She was married to Buhari in August 13, 1989, at the age of 9. This means that Buhari at age 47, in 1989 was having sex with Aisha Buhari at the tender age of 9, an underage according to the constitution of Nigeria. So Mrs. Buhari is a victim of sustained childhood rape and her outbursts are understandable”, she said.

Speaking further, Mrs. Obozuwa said: “How Buhari got Aisha Buhari pregnant at age 13 is a chilling story of a Buhari who defiled Aisha as a little child while she was visiting Zulai, Buhari’s eldest daughter who was her playmate. It is ironic how such a traumatized woman now stands at the vanguard of stigmatizing fellow women.”

This is in poor state. The woman voiced a genuine concern for jobless female youths who are becoming prostitutes because there’s no job. She didn’t call Edo women or anyone prostitute. No responsible press would publish this kind of lie. This is just a shame coming from the press!! Little research would have shown you that Aisha Buhari is not a 35 year old woman. Stop playing dirty with these PDP vagabonds. Don’t let them kill your business with their own political propaganda. There’s life after election

I can see what this site is all about, what will be your hope in the next 5 day if PDP looses at the Presidential level? you will change your domain name? or continue to do this rubbish job. PDP will kill your business, you can continue to make it afterwards, but if you start like this, then be ready for the evil days… Has she even lied? have we not seen our comedians say such and still get an unending laughter from people like you? Just grow your site the right way…Like what Mr. Stanley said “There’s life after election”.

I am grossly disappointed with such poor and shallow work on the part of breaking times. Do not use semantics to pervert the original intended words of a person; perverting the meanings of their word to boost your platform or for ulterior political reasons. If you want to play this game play clean and stop modifying and lurking in shadows like cowards.

I read her comments on Vanguard and, she undoubtedly made a stereotypical comment against Edo women whether you accept or not. She may nor have set out to insult Edo women, but she ended up doing do nonetheless.

A man’s words defines him or her, as the case may be. When speaking to a congregation, everyone has freedom to his/her thoughts. But for a congregation or majority to reason same way to one topic…….. This certainly can’t be called misinterpretation of intention. Lets think wide Nigerians, why that topic anyway. And why has this kinda topic never been raised in any Northern campaign, why Edo. Reason don’t just lash out tongues

Aisha buhari has no moral gound to address anybody or even the women of edo state..the northeners believe that their wifes are so sacred that they don’t come out for any reason..Just becos patient, jonathans wife is breaking grounds in this field, so buhari thinks his wife can give her a run for her moni, only for her to open her mouth and drop a time bomb..shameless.

Aisha should bow her head in shame for coming to Edo state to vomit nonsense while in the north she should be working hard to liberate many northern women who are in bondage.

From the way you wrote, Its obvious that the same person is using the names – Stanley Nwokocha, Adepoju, Peter, Hammed and Charles Idowu to post on this blog. Aisha Buhari is a public figure and should learn to choose her language and topics carefully. I don’t expect such flippant remarks from a woman of her caliber even if she was saying the truth. If Dame Patience goes to the North and talks about stopping underage marriage, I’m sure there will be an uproar. Aisha will make more thoughtless remarks if she is allowed into Aso Rock. I’m not a politician but a concerned citizen of Nigeria and Aisha and her husband have lost my vote.

Who cares if she is a victim of rape, her and the old goat should go to hell. She made the statement without reasoning and now you want us to believe that their intentions are good. Vote GEJ all the way.

Are u nigerians so thoughtless that u cant differentiate between a prominse for employment and an insult? It is insulting for her to call edo women prostitudes taking into consideration the fact that she was a victim of rape.

TRUTH BE TOLD: 90% of Edo girls moves out of the country to various European countries, Asia and even Africa for prostitution. This is a well known fact so Aisha is right afterall.
