The People Democratic Party’s prime candidate for the yet to come gubernatorial election, Governor Godwin Obaseki has recently been supported and backed by 35 registered and deregistered Political Parties for the coming election.
This was made known by the Chairman of the Social Democratic Party, Collins Oreruan who on behalf of the group, stated that their intentions was simply to support the current governor and make sure he wins and run the State for a second term.
“The Political parties, have merged with PDP, after coming to the collective conclusion of supporting Obaseki for the September election campaign”, he stated.
Obaseki who was former a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), revealed how the party screened him out, as they told him he was not competent enough to represent them in Primaries.
According to him, “after the incident, I joined PDP and to the glory of God, became the party’s leader. The stepping down of other participants, ensured that I remain the flag bearer of an important party like PDP”.
“I am very much aware the responsibility am currently shouldering, I am committed and focused on providing the kind of leadership that will benefit not only my party, but the Edo State in general”, the governor said.
The governor further labelled the people of Edo to be proud sets of individuals who deserve better and quality leadership at every given levels.
