by on November 27, 2018

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has refuted the report that it had received the sum of 10 million naira donation from the Kano State Government as part of its contribution towards the upcoming national anti corruption marathon race.

The refute is following a report by Dailytrust and some media houses that Kano State government had donated the said amount to the EFCC and Stakeholders

A Press Statement signed by the EFCC Director General on Media and Publicity, Ameen Yassar, noted that the Kano State government only donated the said money to organizers of the event.

The statement reads, “ Our attention has been drawn to media reports, credited to some online media, that the Kano state Government has donated N10 million to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission, ICPC, for the upcoming National Anti-Corruption Marathon tournament.

“The claim is entirely false, mischievous and a misrepresentation of the Press Release issued earlier on by this office.

“It must however be made clear that Kano state government donated N10 million to the organizers of the Marathon tournament Fair Play Sports International Agency.

“Fair Play Sports is a private entity that organized the marathon with EFCC, ICPC, Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, National Olympic Committee and other anti-corruption stakeholders as partners.”
