One Emmanuel Akomafuwe, on Saturday narrated to Lagos panel on police brutality how he and his girlfriend, Adaugo were stopped and assauted by men of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) on April 13, 2019.

He narrated to the Lagos State Judicial Panel on Police Brutality on how he was in 2019 assaulted by the defunct SARS operatives.

Akomafuwe stated that the moment he asked to know why they were stopped, an argument followed and he was shot in the head by a police officer that was later identified as Inspector Dan Ojo.

Akomafuwe said the Inspector also shot his girlfriend twice, one in the stomach and the other in the leg.

He alleged further to the panel that after the shooting, the police officers, six in number ran away, leaving them to die at the scene.

“I was lucky to have survived but my girlfriend later died in the hospital.

“The officers that killed my girlfriend are living their lives, some were arrested and later released. None have been prosecuted”, he said.

The incident was published in the newspapers and there after, the commissioner of police promised to pay my hospital bills.

“I did scans on my skull and brain at Reddington, and as well checked in Dubai. My sanity has not been the same since the shooting incident as I still can’t sleep without taking pills.

The Police counsel on their part, however requested for more time, so to enable them review the petition.

The petition was adjourned to December 11 by the panel for the cross-examination of the petitioner.
