Former governor, Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state has challenged the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2019 general election, President Muhammadu Buhari to attend the presidential debate scheduled for (Saturday) today.
Fayose who said the APC had earlier claimed that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar was scared of traveling to the United States, noted that the former vice-president had proved wrong all allegations against him and visited the US.
He then taunted the President to come debate with candidates of other political parties, without excuses.
Meanwhile, there are indications that the presidency was shielding the President from participating in the debate.
Fayose, on Friday, wrote on his Twitter handle, @GovAyoFayose, “They challenged @atiku to travel to US, he is there now. We are challenging President Buhari to come and debate tomorrow, no excuse!”
The debate is put together by the Nigerian Election Debate Group (NEDG) and the Broadcasting Organization of Nigeria (BON) and is expected to feature five presidential candidates, including, Oby Ezekwesili of the Allied Congress Party of Nigeria (ACPN); Fela Durotoye of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN); Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC); Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Kingsley Moghalu of the Young Progressive Party (YPP).
