FG Bans Foreign Miners in Zamfara

The Federal Government on Sunday ordered foreign miners to vacate mining sites in Zamfara States and its environs with immediate effect.

Briefing State House correspondents at the presidential villa Abuja, the Acting Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, said that any foreign miner that continues mining activities would have his license revoked.

The Federal Government also announced the suspension of mining activities in the state so as to curtail the activities of the armed banditry that have been terrorizing the people of the place.

The Police IG said that there was a nexus between activities of the bandits and illicit miners, adding that a combined team of security forces will be now dispatched to the area to take.

The press briefing was attended by Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari; Director General, Department of State Services (DSS); Yusuf Bichi and Director General National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Abubakar.
