Fear has erupted among residents of the communities in Egi Clan in Ogba-Egbama Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State following the alleged killings of over sixteen people within a week in the area.
We gathered that the highlight of the tragedy in the area was the recent killings of over sixteen persons in less then a week including the Thursday murder of one Chief Eddy Onwudiwe who is the Ochi-Oha of Ukporomini in the area.
It further gathered that residents have fled their homes as eleven persons were shot dead including a pastor and children at a burial ground at Ohali community on Wednesday; three murdered at Erema after hours of gunshot in the community, and one at Obibo community all in Egi.
A source who said he managed to escape assassination expressed concern that if the killings in Egi clan continues in more days, the area will be deserted.
“The killings in Egi is going out of control. As I’m talking to you now, I just escaped assassination and if this killing continues, the community will be deserted as no one would want to be killed”, the source lamented.
The source who does not want his name mentioned called on the Federal Government to intervene and rescue the people of Egi before the community area would be brought to nothing
As at the time of filing this report, the police was yet to react on the killing incidents.
