The Police in Delta State have confirmed the arrest of a woman whose husband allegedly killed her estranged lover, Robinson Otuke.
Otuke was stabbed to death Saturday in front of his residence along Emebiren Street in Okumagba Layout in Warri, Delta State.
The late Otuke was stabbed close to his neck following a heated argument between him and Ochuko, husband to his suspected lover, Rose Ochuko.
According to eyewitness who spoke to our correspondent under strict anonymity, trouble started when the woman’s husband, simply identified as Mr Ochuku, an electrician, suspected his wife of infidelity.
The incident threw residents into confusion as those living in the compound where the incident happened had to vacate their houses for fear of being arrested.
Another source said until the death of the Otuke, who was a former boyfriend to Rose before she got married, he had refused to cut all ties with her and was still having illicit affairs with her even after marriage.
It was learnt further that Ochuko who has been trailing his wife on account of her sexual escapades had severally warned the deceased to steer clear of his wife before stabbing him to death.
According to one account, the visibly jealous husband beat up his wife and forced her to take him to her estranged lover a few meters from their home where he stabbed and killed the man in his room.
Another separate account has it that the suspect had bundled his wife and his children into a waiting Toyota Corolla car and drove to the deceased’s house, killed him in the presence of his own wife, and left with his children back to his house and picked some few belongings and disappeared.
It was also gathered that when the relatives of the deceased got wind of what had happened to their brother, they mobilized to the man’s house thinking he was still there. But when they found out that the man has escaped, they destroyed all his property and left.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Celestina Kalu confirmed the incident and the arrest of the suspect. But she added that she was yet to be fully briefed on the incident.
