Mother of the pioneer Managing Director of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and former senator representing Delta central at the senate, Senator Emmanuel Aguariavwodo has regained freedom from her abductors.
The 84 years old Madam Sarah Aguariavwodo was freed at about 12:35am amidst wild jubilation at her home town of Okpare-Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State.
Madam Sarah who spent 13 days with her captors was abducted about two weeks ago at her residence in Ogbe Street, after two previous failed attempts.
Meanwhile one person was yesterday confirmed to have been arrested by the police in connection with the kidnap of the octogenarian.
Family sources said no ransom was paid for her release. The hoodlums had earlier demanded for N200 million as ransom.
Mr. Simeon Aguariavwodo, one of the sons to the victim confirmed the release while celebrating his mother’s release in his Facebook timeline.
Confirming the release of the victim, the State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu stated that one person had earlier been arrested in connection with the incident.
