The PDP, through its twitter handle posted that Aisha Buhari got $22 million which was allocated to her by the Central Bank of Nigeria at an official rate of N197 per dollar. She in turn resold the $22 million in the black market, same day at N340 per dollar.  PDP further alleged that the Central Bank governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele is an accomplice to this crime.  See tweet below.

Also named in the scandal is Garba Shehu, whom the party alleged  received $800,000 at a discounted rate of N185 per dollar and sold it at rate of  N350 per dollar, same day. Garba Shehu was also accused of obtaining a choice land allocation from the minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, Aisha Buhari in a swift reaction took to her Twitter with a post that read “Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari is not a dealer of forex. She has not and will never be involved in any illegal dealings.” Warning the PDP that she would file a lawsuit on defamation of character when NEXT the PDP makes allegations against her. She also followed up her tweet with “Making false and unfounded allegations without proof just to incite Nigerians on social media is wrong.”
