After spending over two months in the custody of the Department of States Security Services, a former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam yesterday regained his freedom on self-recognition.
Suswam was released yesterday at about 3:30pm.
The former governor had on 25 February,2017 honoured an invitation by the DSS over alleged possession of firearms and link with militia gang leader Terwase Akwaza, but was detained up till yesterday that he was released.
A source close to the former governor of Benue state, Gabriel Suswam, told our correspondent that the former governor was released on self- recognition and was asked to go home when needed he will be contacted.
The former governor has three cases pending before a Federal High Court, Abuja.
Two of the cases are before Justice Gabriel Kolawole and one before Justice A R Mohammed.
The matters were slated for May 9,10 and 11 respectively.
A group, Benue Concerned Citizens had last week called on the Department of State Service to immediately release Suswam or charge him to court for whatever offence he was being held for.
Governor Suswam had been in the custody of the DSS since February 25th, 2017 when he answered and invitation from the Service to appear before it.
