The former Minister of State for Works under President Goodluck Jonathan, Engr Chris Ogiemwonyi, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressives Congress,APC.
Engr Ogiemwonyi was formally received by the National Chairman of the party, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, and other leaders of the APC on Friday.
Speaking in Benin, the Edo state capital, the one-time President of the Energy Strategy Centre, Abuja who crossed to the APC with over 2,000 supporters, commended the massive developmental efforts of Governor Adams Oshiomhole.
Ogiemwonyi who indicated interest in joining the Edo governorship race in 2016 was endorsed by a number of Edo Students as well as the Hausa and Igbo communities. The aspirant charged the electorate to vote out the PDP in 2015, saying Nigeria is at a crossroad in all aspects. “You are not coming to force anything on our throat, time has passed when one man will decide who becomes who in Edo State. Edo people are not fools.” he said
Thanking God for using him to assist the less privileged, the former minister said as a public servant, he attracted construction of roads, lifted his people by building skill acquisition centres, facilitated electricity generation among others.
Continuing, the former Executive Director, Exploration & Production Directorate, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, said: “We are all giving support to Oshiomhole because of what he is doing in the state. Our people can see the difference.
“Look at our roads with six lanes. Look at the Benin Water Storm project. Today flood no longer sack our people. If not for the bad state Oshiomhole met this state, we would have been comparing Edo to Lagos.
“Edo people will vote the APC come 2015 and 2016. I have no doubt about that.”
In response the Edo state Governor, Adams Oshiomhole welcomed the aspirant and assured him of full absorption into the APC.
“We are all glad to have you. Any progressive Nigerian should be in APC because PDP is a failure.
