“As 2015 approaches and as Nigerian politicians continue to outdo themselves in stupidity, it is important that as regular Nigerians, we try and pay scarce attention to ignoble characters, whose only aim is to bring our beloved country to its knees.”
When Audu Ogbeh gleefully announced to the world about the APCs involvement in the Bring Back Our Girls campaign, he surely did not expect the amount of backlash he received. That he expected commendation and praise from Nigerians on his party’s involvement in the BBOG campaign goes to show the level of disrespect the APC has for Nigerians.
When the plight of poor innocent girls kidnapped by agents of Satan becomes a means for the major opposition party to make political gains by capitalizing on their sorrow and that of their parents, then you know our country is sailing towards troubled waters. Does the life of a Nigerian mean so little to these people? At what point did our humanity fall so low? For Audu Ogbeh, a chieftain of the APC, to proudly announce his party’s involvement, shows you how insensitive our so called elders can be and the total disregard the APC has for Nigerians.
Why exactly would the APC choose to play politics with the lives of Nigerians? Why politicize death and pain? When did the sufferings of Nigerians become a means that politicians would seek to use to score political points? The level of decadence and indecency within the APC has been brought to light by this sordid act.
But then, haven’t we always suspected the APC were the sponsors of the BBOG campaign? We just never expected them to stupidly and brazenly brag about it. What else were we to expect when the BBOG group made mind-boggling demands of the government? The campaign was supposed to be about raising awareness on the plights of the missing girls and the evils of Boko Haram, showing solidarity with the federal government and the military in their fight against Boko Haram, urging the government to do more when they fall short and to keep the girls at the top of everyone’s agenda. Instead the organizers were demanding a return of the girls from the government. Why demand from the government girls kidnapped by a terrorist group that the government has been actively fighting? Why try to undermine the military in the fight against terrorism? Would the campaign to Bring Back Our Girls not be successful if it did not involve maligning the person of the President and ridiculing his government? Wouldn’t we have been stupid to not have suspected APC’s involvement in all this ridiculousness? The APC’s aim is more to destabilize this present government than to actually create a better life for Nigerians after 2015.
As 2015 approaches and as Nigerian politicians continue to outdo themselves in stupidity, it is important that as regular Nigerians, we try and pay scarce attention to ignoble characters, whose only aim is to bring our beloved country to its knees.
Nigerians deserve a credible opposition, whose agenda is to make Nigeria a better place, proffer better alternatives to the present government, not an opposition that shamelessly capitalizes on our pains to get ahead and show time and time again, that they don’t care about Nigerians and all they care about is power in 2015. An opposition of despair is not what Nigerians deserve, we have a lot to be gloomy about already.
