Goodluck Jonathan Speaks On Arms Deal Probe

by on January 28, 2016

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has disclosed that he cannot speak on the alleged $2.1bn arms scam,  because the matter is in court.

The former President said this in a series of tweets on his official Twitter handle on Wednesday. One tweet stands out from the series of tweets:

He said, “My voice will certainly be heard at the appropriate time regarding the alleged arms funds mismanagement. I would not want to interfere with the proceedings by the judicial system that my administration worked tirelessly to strengthen.

“My post-presidential focus is advancing democracy and good governance in Africa. If we do not spend billions to educate Africa’s youths today, we will spend it fighting insecurity tomorrow.”

Speaking separately on ‘Security, Education and Development in Africa’ at the Geneva Press Club in Switzerland, on Wednesday, Jonathan lamented the high rate of illiteracy in the North.

He said poor education was one of the factors promoting insecurity.

The former President, however, praised President Muhammadu Buhari for giving education a top priority in the 2016 budget.

Jonathan said, “Of course, charity begins at home and for the future, what Nigeria needs is to focus on making education a priority. Thankfully, the administration that succeeded mine in its first budget appears to have seen wisdom in continuing the practice of giving education the highest allocation. This is commendable.

“I feel that what people in my position, statesmen and former leaders, ought to be doing is to help build consensus all over Africa, to ensure that certain issues should not be politicised.

“Education is one of those issues. If former African leaders can form themselves into an advisory group to gently impress on incumbent leaders the necessity of meeting the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation recommended allocation of 26 per cent of a nation’s annual budget on education, I am certain that Africa will make geometric progress in meeting her Millennium Development Goals and improving on every index of the Human Development Index.”

Jonathan should realise that, when making public statements on sensitive and salient National issues, if he cannot say the truth as it is, he should atleast moderate his lies or reduce them to the bearest minimum. Jonathan should realise that i cannot wish anyone goodluck again, for i prefer to wish someone super success. Jonathan should think of this. What will it profit a man, to mercilessly loot the resources of his country, and eventually looses his life ?

Nigerians knew it wouldn’t be far from this. Johnathan straddled the infamous gang of heartless treasury robbers. Now what he is telling you and I, Nigerians is if you have proof and the liver to prosecute me do so and let me see. I can pay the total sum in a hundred folds even if the need arise. I also have in my pocket the credit of accepting defeat at the polls that gave me iron cast immunity from EFCC. Proof Virot wrong.

Had it mean any of your family member had died in the course of combating insurgency, you would have known that those involved in this arms deal be killed and not bailed. This is TREASON and if you dont know, it warrants death as penalty. Why cant Nigeria be like china? Where those attested of treason be humiliatedly killed. Mind you, am a compatriot !!!

Guys, when would you guys realise that Jonathan is and will always be the best president ever to rule Nigeria. I won’t blame those laying insults on themselves. You guys should look beyond the walls. What Jonathan said is the truth and that will always remain the truth.
