Goodluck Jonathan’s GIS a Monumental Success – FG

The Federal Government, stated yesterday, said the Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS, initiated by the administration of former President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, was retained by the current administration because of the positive effects it had on solving graduate unemployment across the country.

The FG said that 41,000 graduates had benefited from the programme, with over 35,000 already exited and have secured jobs.

This fact was revealed by the GIS Project Director, Ministry of Finance, Mr. Dennis Chukwu in Lokoja, Kogi State.

Mr. Chukwu said many of the graduates had also secured credit facilities and grants to expand businesses they established with the GIS stipends, giving the breakdown of the beneficiaries to include 68 percent male, 31 percent female, while the vulnerable had one percent.

Chukwu, who was represented by Mrs Memunat Usman, said the programme had been able to give hope to many young school leavers that would have been roaming the streets. Chukwu said: “As a government, we can boldly say that the purpose of setting up the Graduate Internship Scheme, GIS, which is for unemployed graduates to acquire employable skills is being achieved.

“However, as long as thousands of graduates still remain unemployed, we will continue to improve the capacity of the scheme to absorb more applicants.”

According to him, the career development and entrepreneurship skills training are designed to help the beneficiaries answer the question of ‘what next’ and begin plans for the future.
He noted that the skills and experience the beneficiaries acquired through the GIS had placed them in a better position to contribute meaningfully to national development.

For the first time i hear something good about the past administration by the APC. Now they know they can’t fool everyone for too long. They have been blaming everything on the past administration and things are getting worst in the country. As a matter of fact, Buhari is incompetent. He lacks the gravitas and philosophical groundings to lead Nigerians. I know I’m gonna get some sticks from northern and yoruba muslims but i don’t care because i have said the truth.. APC knows many nigerians are fed up with their BLAME GAME

Comment…Mr Chukwu shld better watch his words if he doesn’t want to lose his job. This gov’t has never seen anything good about the last administration, no matter how good. U hardly hear any top functionary of this gov’t acknowledging any achievement of the GEJ administration. I believe that no matter how bad a gov’t is, it will record some achievements, just as no matter how good a gov’t may be, it will have it’s flaws. We are humans & as such we are not perfect. We need to learn to tolerate one another, acknowledging weaknesses & strengths inherent among us.

Nigeria problem is not our leaders. Is religious Leaders. The Christian. Muslim . traditional.
The three are not from heaven but den of robbers . Act 17; 24-26.. God does not live in a building or temple. . God did not need your money to do its work. To worship God is to care for the needy and family’s village. They refused to make our village develop but making the youth to run away from their responsibilities. .. The city is congested. . And again those who stole Nigeria money are the pillars of these religions. Nickel discovered @ Kaduna is it spiritual. Pls let go back from religion and practice Love.. caring. God is love.
