Determined to seek redress for the wanton destruction of lives and properties by Fulani herdsmen in Benue state, the Movement against Fulani Occupation, (MAFO) has dragged the Federal Government to the ECOWAS Court in Abuja
Speaking after the hearing,Terrence Vembe, counsel to MAFO stressed that the FG had done enough to protect the lives and properties of citizens in view of the series of massacre perpetrated by the herdsmen.
However, the counsel to the FG demanded more time to respond to the suit filed against them as the court adjourned for November 9.
In a related development, the spokesperson of (MAFO), Gideon Inyom, whilst submitting a petition at the National Human Rights Commission, decried a situation where President Buhari didnot raise concern over the terrorist activities of the herdsmen in Nigeria in his address at the UN General Assembly.
Inyom appealed to the NHRC to do the needful and save the lives of Benue indigenes.
Earlier the Deputy Director, Protection and Investigation at the NHRC, Lambert Okpara said the Commission will leave no stone unturned in promoting and protecting the Rights of citizens as he received the petition from MAFO.
