Ifeanyi Ubah Turns Campaign Manager for Willie Obiano’s Reelection Bid

by on March 21, 2016

Ahead of the 2017 gubernatorial poll in Anambra State, Pillar Of Sports, Publisher and Chairman/CEO Capital Oil & Gas Industries Ltd., Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, has thrown his weight behind Governor Willie Obiano and offered to campaign for the governor’s second term re-election bid.
This declaration, which is causing ripples in the opposition Labour Party (LP) and People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, was at the launching and public presentation of the book written in his honour “Willie Obiano: Turning deficits into Assets in Anambra,” by Obiora Nzekwe.
According to Ubah, “I am standing by Obiano and his wife. I am supporting him and I have told him that I will continue to support him if he continues doing what he is doing for Ndi Anambra. I don’t want him to be distracted. If he is distracted, he would lose focus.
“When governors were rushing for bailout funds at Abuja, he did not join them. The Nigerian economy is terrible now and if he is still paying civil servants, I urge them to stand by him; you must stand by him.
“I endorse Obiano for a second term. I am his campaign manager. I support him from my heart. I am a man of my words and whatever I say I do, unless you fail on your own part of the bargain…”
Ubah, who launched the book with N5 million and a CAFÉ magazine with N1 million, commended the restoration of security by the Obiano’s administration, adding that he has volunteered to be the governor’s campaign manager during his second term re-election bid.
An elated Obiano’s wife hugged Ubah and thanked him for the gesture. Ubah was the only person she stood to welcome and honour at the launching.
Ubah said further that he was not asking anybody for anything and has never done government contract since his life and has rejected so many titles as his interest is in human development and growth.
The opposition PDP and LP have been perfecting plans to ensure Ubah picks its ticket for a primary election to bring life into its party before a candidate emerges and should he emerge as the candidate of either of the party, APGA would have been in trouble.
This fact sparked the jubilation and eruption of joy at the Prof. Dora Akunyli Women Development Center, Awka, where he announced his support for Obiano.
Chairman of Labour Party, Jude Ezeanokwasa was apparently still in shock at the announcement when the declaration reached him.
According to the LP chairman, his party will take the ticket this time as Obiano has done nothing in two years in office to warrant such a support.
Women Leader of APGA, Chinyere Ibenta was overjoyed for the support of Ubah to APGA’s governor for a second term, insisting that with Ubah, the journey is so much nearer.
A PDP supporter who would not want to be mentioned, said that Ubah is the man they are waiting for to enliven the dead spirit in the party alongside other top members for the 2017 governorship election.
Further, according to Ubah, “No traditional ruler gave me any title even at a time all the traditional rulers in the South East said they would honour me with a title but I refused.
“Why I am saying this is to let you know that only contentment can give anyone happiness and a happy life. I came out to assist the state because I can do well in governance.
“I came to help Anambra as the former governor rightly said when he visited me then that the government needs Ubah and not Ubah that needs the government.
“I have been watching the governor from afar until he met my criteria in governance before I said I will identify with him. The most important aspect of asset is security, if you don’t have security, you can’t sleep.
“That is where some past leaders got it wrong. It is only when you get security that you can champion investments which would improve the standard of living of the people.
“Good governance is not a day’s job or what you do in an insecure environment. Anybody who loves Anambra and wants growth in its economy should support this administration.
“If anybody says Obiano has not resolved security problems, let him say it now because the influx of investments into Anambra is evident. I appeal to our people to come and invest in the state too if they love Anambra.
On his support for a second term for Governor Willie Obiano, Ubah said the governor has done much on security to improve the lots of Anambra people, pointing out that if he continues doing marvelously, nobody would challenge him for a second term in office.
Ubah in an interview with select newsmen said he supports every effort geared towards sanitising the society, adding that the fight against corruption should not take any colouration.
His words: “When I contested in Anambra in 2013, I said so many things, including that I need not be in governance to make physical cash. On the issue of South East roads, it is good you said it. Some of them are building millions for themselves.
“I will soon name them. They are only thinking of how to accumulate selfish wealth. There is no sincerity in governance. It is very painful. I stand on fighting corruption. There is nothing I can do because I am not yet a governor.”
Governor Obiano thanked him immensely for his support and assured that he would continue to do what is in the best interest of Ndi Anambra.
