Igbo man killed in Abuja for Urinating near Mosque
A middle aged Igbo man was lynched in Jiwa, a community in Abuja, FCT for what they considered as desecration of the Mosque.
The man was said to have urinated near a Mosque which attracted the angst of a Muslim faithful who threw a stone at him, the deceased was said to have retaliated by picking the same stone and throwing back at the man.
An eyewitness who narrated the incident to our reporter said that other Muslim faithful who were infuriated joined and lynched him.
As at press time, tension was mounting among youths in Jiwa and Gwagwa communities in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), over the killing.
According to the eyewitness, the man, whose name was not immediately disclosed to newsmen, was passing through one of the streets in the village, and then decided to urinate into a drainage, close to a mosque.
The Ibo man was confirmed dead a private hospital in Gwagwa village by doctors in the hospital.
Our correspondent gathered that it took the intervention of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Gwagwa Police Station and some other prominent persons in the two communities to contain the youths were gathering for a reprisal action.
However every effort to reach the FCT police public relations officer (PPRO), Anjuguri Manza proved abortive, as he told our reporter that he was not in Abuja to respond to such inquiries.

If the report was accurately narrated then this is not what our Holy Prophet thought us to do with anybody that has carried out such a similar act. What they should have done according to our Prophet is ” kindly call the person’s attention and inform him about his act” because he might not know he was wrong. therefore, this is not what Islam told us, the culprits should be arrested and face the wrath of the law.

i remember what instigated jos crisis, usually Muslims disallowed women to pass cross the mosque while observing Friday prayer. everybody know about know about this. some people that wanted to cause violence in the city planned with some lady that she should go by all means cross the midst of the Muslims. they followed with heavy arms. when people resisted they started shooting innocent unarmed crowd. that was just the beginning. and thousands of innocent souls vanished. based on the past experience, we should exercise restrain and allow the law enforcement investigate whether there is or there is no ulterior motives towards someone urinating in a sacred place. I will like to call the attention those that are beclouded with sentiment to remember that Muslims are not praying in the gutter, we are rather praying in mosques. and there are various mosque that is attached to gutters and we urinate in the those gutters. let the law take it course. insults are barbaric.
