INEC: Necessary Logistics In Place For Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says it has put necessary logistics in place ahead of the forthcoming polls.

Addressing newsmen on the level of preparedness, INEC national chairman in charge of information and voter education committee, Chris Iyimoga, said outside surpassing the threshold of 80% distribution of Permanent Voters Cards, the commission has taken advantage of the extension of elections by 6 weeks to perfect all arrangement, which include the receiving of ballot papers, ballot boxes and sensitive materials.

Iyimoga revealed that the commission would conduct a test run of the card readers in 12 states of the 6 geo-political zones of the federation on Friday.

The chairman of the commission Professor Attahiru Jega, is to meet with Resident Electoral Commissioners on March 11 while March 19 has been scheduled for a meeting with stakeholders, civil society groups and political parties.
