President Mohammadu Buhari has appointed the Deputy High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Kabiru Bala as Nigeria’s new High Commissioner to South Africa with concurrent accreditation to Swaziland and Lesotho.
This was contained in a Statement issued by the Special Assistant on Media to Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms Sarah Sanda.
The statement also disclosed that the Ambassador has already been issued a letter of credence by the Minster of Foreign Affairs, Geofrey Onyeama.
The appointment comes three months after the former Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Ahmed Ibeto resigned his appointment in pursuit of politics.
Amb. Bala who is a career diplomat, joined the Foreign Service in 1999 and had at served at different times in Brasilia, Sudan, The Gambia, Netherlands and Thailand.
He also served in the State House Office of the Chief of Staff to the President, as well as State House Protocol.
