Kano: Gunmen Kill Police Escort, Abduct Top German Engineer

In less than one week police in Kano rescued 14-year old Muhammad Ahmed, who was kidnapped by unknown gunmen, after killing his father Ahmed Abu, a Syrian national, unknown gunmen numbering about five, on Monday, April 16, 2018, killed a police escort attached to a top German engineer, Michael Cremza, working with Dantata and Sawoe construction company, who they eventually abducted.

Independent sources who witnessed the bloody operation confirmed to journalists that the incident occurred at about 7.45am Monday morning along Ring Road By-Pass within the city.

According to the sources, five gunmen had emerged in Commando style riding in a black VW Golf, “they first shot at the police escort, who was in the car guarding the expatriate.

“After killing the police man was dead, the assailants abducted the expatriate Engineer who was busy supervising the road construction,” the source added.

The source further revealed that, “the three gunmen started shooting sporadically immediately they arrived and shot the Mobile Policeman attached to the abducted Engineer, while a stray bullet hit a truck driver in the area.”

Confirming the incident, the spokesman of Kano state police Command, SP Magaji Musa Majia said in a statement that, “the Kano State Police Command is displeased to inform the general public of an ugly incident which occurred today Monday 16th April, 2018 at about 0745hrs along Sabon Titi Madobi Road, Kano, where an armed gang of five men in a Motor vehicle ambushed and opened fire on a motor vehicle conveying the staff of Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company going to a construction site.”

“The attackers killed one Police Sergeant attached to Special Protection Unit (SPU) on Escort duty and

abducted Mr. Michael Cremza, a German National working with the Company.

“The Police Commissioner CP Rabiu Yusuf has since

deployed powerful team of operatives and detectives to cordon the axis with a view to arresting the culprits and rescue the victim.
