Notable absences of key APC members, marred the inaugural meeting of the Buhari campaign council held on Thursday with the President presiding over the meeting at the Presidential Villa.
Those absent from the meeting included the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and the 24 state governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) .
While the Vice President was on a visit to Ondo State, it was unclear why the governors did not attend the meeting.
Those who attended include APC chieftain and co-chairman of the Presidential Campaign Council, Bola Tinubu, as well as the party’s national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.
Others in attendance are the Director General of the Council, Rotimi Amaechi; his deputy, Senator Olorunnibe Mamora; Senator Ahmed Lawan, and Senator George Akume, among others.
President Buhari presided over today’s meeting three days after he inaugurated the council.
Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress APC has defended its governors over their absence at Thursday’s meeting of its Presidential Campaign Council at the State House in Abuja.
According to the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the meeting was also not an inaugural one, saying the council had met at least three times since it was inaugurated on Monday by President Muhammadu Buhari.
