Messi called me ‘phenomenon’ in Brazil – Vincent Enyeama

by on April 26, 2017

Former Super Eagles captain, Vincent Enyeama, has claimed he was a better rated player than Argentina’s Lionel Messi at the 2014 Brazil World Cup.

Nigeria was beaten 3-2 by Argentina, with Enyeama in goal. The Barcelona star scored two of the goals.

After watching Messi’s last-gasp winner against Real Madrid in El Clasico last weekend, Enyeama tweeted: “I am not sure that he is human. “He is so fast, precise and so good.”

But a fan jumped on the comment, remembering the Lille goalkeeper had previously been undone by Messi, joking he had been “bossed” at the World Cup.

However, Enyeama hit back suggesting he had been better than the Argentina star, claiming Messi and Diego Maradona had both told him so.

According to Enyeama, Messi describes him as “a phenomenon” – a compliment for the several breathtaking saves he made on the day.

“I bossed him bro,” he added.

“I was called El Phenomenon by him. Not sure that you were born.”
