The Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar today declared open the maiden edition of Ultra Modern Wuye Market Christmas trade fair.
The minister in her opening speech said she was particularly pleased to know that the fair is intended to provide a platform for businesses especially SMEs to network and develop businesses thereby bridging the market gap between the public and private sector.
The minister noted that Nigeria is in challenging times, but despite these times, opportunities continue to exist for individuals and the people.
She said, “we have Africa’s largest Population and this represents a huge market with vast potential that can not be ignored”.
“Our institutions are being strengthened to make doing business in Nigeria much easier”.
She also enjoined the people to support President Muhammadu Buhari, noting that government is aware there are so many hurdles to surmount for SMEs to thrive. That partnership with government is what will bring the change Nigerians voted for.
Highlights of the occasion was the official opening of the Wuye market trade fair.
Guests present at the opening ceremony of the trade fair include the minister of state for Trade and Investment, Wife of former governor of Benue state, Arc. Yemisi Suswam who designed the market, Former first lady of Bayelsa, Mrs Sylva, President of market women association, Mrs Felicia Sani and host of others.
The trade fair will end on the 16th of December 2016.
