The Nigerian Military has just made public its recapture of Baga, a fishing community in Borno State.
Baga was last month overran by Boko Haram insurgents who, official sources say, killed about 20 persons at the time they struck.
According to a tweet posted @DefenceInfoNG as a news flash, the military declared that “Troops have this afternoon captured #BAGA after a fierce battle with the terrorists. Heavy casualties on them. Mopping up ongoing.”
Some residents of Baga, who escaped last month’s onslaught by the insurgents, disclosed in Maiduguri that the Islamic fundamentalists hoisted their flag at the headquarters of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) after attacking the military base in the community.
