The Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Mr. Boss Mustapha, has said that the problems confronting Nigeria have no respect for geographical boundaries or political affiliations.
He stressed the need for synergy among the various arms and tiers of government to achieve national development.
Mustapha gave the charge at the first quarter 2018 edition of the Forum of the SGF with Secretaries to the Governments of the States in Yola, Adamawa State on Monday, March 26, 2018.
The SGF, who was represented by Permanent Secretary, Ecological Fund Office in the Office of SGF, Dr. Habiba Lawal, said: ” The problems confronting Nigeria have no respect for geographical boundaries or political affiliations. We therefore require collective efforts to surmount these challenges, to ensure peace, security, progress and prosperity for our people.”
He continued: “For the country to develop and succeed, all arms and tiers of government need to work together. We live in a world where collaboration and innovation play a central role in creating the enabling environment for political, social and economic growth.”
Mustapha therefore urged the forum to deliberate on the National Social Investment Programme, NSIP, and the Anchor Borrowers Programmes of the Federal Government, with a focus on their implementation and challenges in the states.
The Forum meets quarterly to deliberate on issues of national importance, with crosscutting impact on the three tiers of Government.
The Special Adviser to the President on Social Investments, Mrs. Maryam Uwais, in a paper titled: “The National Social Investment Programme of the Federal Government, Impact, Opportunities and Challenges,” said that more than four million Nigerians y have benefited from the NSIP since its inception in 2016.
